How to Balance New Hifz With Revision

Give new memorisation a clear, limited slot. Give what you already know the larger share of time. Retention is the progress that still matters in a year.

Put return first in the sitting

Start with yesterday and a slice of older pages, then add new if time remains. If time runs out, new waits. That rule prevents the queue of forgotten ayahs described in why you forget.

Let the old Hifz grow slower on purpose

As pages accumulate, new daily ayahs should shrink. This feels like slowing down and is actually how Hifz stays. Revision becomes the main work.

Keep a written split for the week

Example: four days with a little new, three days return only. Write it. Adjust every fortnight. A beginner plan is this split in simple numbers.

Use tests to move ayahs between buckets

New, near-return, and far-return are enough buckets. Testing decides the move. When new and old compete, old wins until it is steady again.
