Find an ayah from Arabic you type

Remember the sound of a line but not the surah number? Type at least three Arabic words from the start of the verse. Matching uses the same prefix matcher as Mutqin’s Find an ayah — without a microphone and without sending your wording to analytics.

What this finder does

It identifies likely ayahs from typed Arabic. If several ayahs are close, you see a short list so you can recognise the verse you meant.

How to use it

Type at least three clear Arabic words from the beginning of the ayah (not a translation). Press Find ayah. Open the match that fits; if the list is long, add another distinctive word and search again.

Who it helps

Students who remember the start of a line but not the surah number, and anyone who wants a lookup without enabling the microphone.

How the public finder works

The page loads Uthmani Quran text through Mutqin’s same-origin Quran proxy, builds the Ask Mutqin matching index, and ranks ayahs that fit the words you typed.

Voice, audio, and opening a range

Reciting into the microphone, playing ayah audio, translations, and opening a span around the match happen in the memorisation workspace — see Find an ayah by reciting. This tool stops at identification so it can stay public and free of speech services. Privacy details for microphone use are on the privacy page.

Interactive tool

This page includes a free interactive tool you can use without creating an account. Open the page in a browser to run the calculator, test, or finder above the explanatory sections.

FAQ

Why does Find an ayah need at least three Arabic words?

Short fragments match too many ayahs. Three or more words from the start of the verse give the matcher a fair chance.

Is the Arabic I type sent to analytics?

No. Analytics events never include Arabic text or transcripts — only result statuses such as matched or short.
